Terms of Service
Last updated: 14 April 2026
These terms govern your use of Walk Routes (“we”, “us”, “our”) and any purchases made through the site. By using the service you agree to these terms. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
1. The Service
Walk Routes provides digital walking guides for the Lake District, including route maps, GPX files, and walk descriptions. Some content is free; premium content requires a one-time purchase.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to make a purchase. By using the service you confirm you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you may use the free content with parental consent.
3. Purchases and Pricing
- All prices are in GBP and inclusive of any applicable VAT.
- Purchases grant a one-time, non-transferable, personal licence to access the relevant content.
- Access is tied to your account and can be used on any device where you are logged in.
- We reserve the right to change prices at any time. Price changes do not affect completed purchases.
4. Right to Cancel (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013)
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day right to cancel a purchase for a refund. However, because our products are digital content, by completing a purchase you expressly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose your right to cancel once you access the content (Regulation 37).
If you have not accessed the purchased content, you may request a full refund within 14 days by emailing support@walkroutes.co.uk.
5. Digital Content, Consumer Rights Act 2015
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If the content we supply does not meet these standards, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund. Please contact us at support@walkroutes.co.uk if you believe the content is defective.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Share, resell, or redistribute purchased content.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy route data from the platform.
- Use the service for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
7. Safety Disclaimer
Walking in the Lake District involves inherent risk. Our guides are provided for informational purposes only. You are responsible for your own safety and for assessing whether a route is appropriate for your fitness level and conditions on the day. Always check weather forecasts, carry appropriate equipment, and inform someone of your plans.
Route information may become outdated. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of path conditions, signage, or access rights at the time of your walk.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Walk Routes shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the service or reliance on our content. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant purchase.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited under English law.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on Walk Routes, including route descriptions, maps, and GPX data, is owned by or licensed to us. Your purchase grants a personal licence to use the content; it does not transfer ownership. You may not reproduce or distribute our content without written permission.
10. Service Availability
We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We are not liable for downtime caused by maintenance, third-party services, or circumstances beyond our control.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree with updated terms, you may close your account and request a refund for unused purchases.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under applicable local law.
